Cradock with a rather miscellaneous squadron, consisting of the
Canopus, a war ship of pre-Dreadnought of almost 13,000 tons with
6-thumb armor, the guns of four l2-thumb and a speed of 19 knots;  the Good one
You hope, a cruiser of 14,000 tons, with two 9.2-thumb and sixteen 6-thumb
guns and a speed of 22 knots;  the Monmouth of 9800 tons, fourteen
6-thumb the guns and the same speed as the Good Hope;  the Glasgow of 4800
tons, with two 6-thumb and the guns of ten 4-thumb and a speed of 25 knots;
and the Otranto, an armed cruiseliner. For reinforcements were waited from
house, and possibly in Japan;  but the squadrons unevenly were not
it joined in weight of metal, although the English were handicapped from the
the difference and the antiquity of their armament. The equilibrium was, however,
destroyed in front of the battle, because, as Cradock in the third week of
October made its north of way along the Pacific coast, the Canopus
defects developed that they made her/it necessary having gone away behind for

The squadrons fell late in with each other northwest of Coronel in
the afternoon of 1 November. Cradock had become southern, presumably to
