Capitolo 51
wakened up with a beginning. I was dreaming very firm. And my dream was
particularly clear and realistic. Never since the first night of mine new
life--the night of the murder--it had me the dreamed such dream, or seen
dead objects so vividly. It went out in clear colours as the
Terrible portrait that you/he/she had frequented me so long. And it struck me
oddly. It was a scene, rather than a dream--a scene, as to the
theater; but a scene in which me understood and I recognized everything.
I was standing on the footsteps of a house--a wood house and white, with a
green-painted porch--the a lot of house in which I had seen that afternoon
the photo grown weak in the small session-room of Jane. But I didn't do
you think about him as the house in the old portrait for before: I thought of
it as house--our his/her own place--the cottage. The footsteps seemed a lot to me
stop, as in childish memory. A lady walked around on the
porch and he/she called to me: a lady in a white suit as the lady in
the photo, only younger and more beautiful, and it dressed very more
gently. But I didn't think or to her as that: I called her/it
mother to me: I looked above in his/her face, oh, never so a lot above
me: I am due to be very small indeed when that portrait before
happened to me. There was also, a gentleman in a coat of white flax,
who pinched the ear of my mother, and he/she slightly spoke and musically. But me
you don't think rather this way about him: I knew that he was my dad: I played around
his/her knees, a small child that races and it looked above in his/her face, and
provokes him/it and laughed to him. My dad looked down at me, and he called
me a small face the kitten, and it rolled me ended on my back, and he/she caressed me
and laughed with me. There were trees that grow all around, the great trees
with grey and long leaves: the same kind of trees as the one in the
photo. But I didn't remember that for before: in my dream, and in
the first minutes of my thought of awakening, me suffered I knew them how
the great blue-gum-trees.
