Capitolo 11

AN UNEXPECTED VISITOR

A morning, after I had been four whole years to Aunt Emma, I felt
a ring to the bell, and, looking at the steps, saw a tall and
beautiful man in a seed-military coat that asked in a more audible
expresses for the Girl Callingham.

Maria, the houseservant hesitated a moment.

"Miss Callingham in, gentleman", she responded in a rather equivocal
tone; "but I don't know if I should allow to see her/it to her or not.
My owner is out; and I have severe orders to which any extraneous is
