Capitolo 93
"It is a bad business that holds here these niggerses every night,
Swizer-you knows that I have made a lot of times the clean thing with you,"
Said Dunn, sharpening his/her finger to the Dutch; who made the occhiolino, and
coming aside back the box, anything slipped in his/her hand, and
advancing to the door, it supposed some language of threatning against the
negroes, owe them they ever returned to its shop. A great portion of
those that came for liqueur were negroes as that they looked if theirs were
dividing with their last cent for exciting, for them you/they were molested and
dirty, and it needed bread more than the liqueur. Their condition seemed
compassionate in the extreme, and he/she anchors the custodian of "Dutch angle-shop"
indeed it became rich from their custom, and to persistently ask so it was him on
their patronage, that he treated them with very more courtesy that
his/her white clients.
These "angle-shop Dutch" they are notorious places in Charleston, and
it is puzzled from city respectable, because they becomes the
appointment of "niggers" that it gets in the bad habits and it neglects them
the business of masters or master. He/she anchors the custodians they practice such
you influence to elections, that the officers not only fear them, but
to assure their favors, leaves their knavery not molested.
Well a writer in the Messenger of Charleston of August 31 st 1852,
says--
"We was surprised, with many others, to the positions vast sorts
in the decisions passed to the reunion of HUTCHINSON to the Room of Porthole,
and it immediately was ready to enlist to lend our voice to result a
'administration' that for two permitted years 'the moral feeling to be
abandoned', 'truthfulness neglected', 'reverence for religion
obliterated', 'liberty refused religious protection,'
'licentiousness allowed', 'and a due administration for vice,
neglected.'" These positions sustain unrefuted, and with but one or two
exceptions, we have never known one about those illegal shops of angle
pursued by the present administration. And those only examples
only where they was driven to observe the most flagrant abuses.
