these principles would have put in a shrine in a rigid writing
constitution, and it put over the course of parliament or the people.
Under the sovereignty of this constitution it inhaled (1653), what
provided that, among the other things, for the union of England Ireland, and
Scotland, a drastic reform of the immunity and redistribution of
places, the government had to be in the hands of one "alone person", the
Protecting, and an only room, the House of Grounds of common ownership. The single one
person found soon "horridly the only room arbitrary", and
preferred the liberty of military despotism. But his/her greater-generals
it was also more arbitrary than the only room, and in 1657 a coolness
constitution was elaborate with a Second Chamber to do him/it popular.
The Restoration, in fact, had almost started as soon as the war was ended;
the alone republic of room of 1649-1653 had resulted in an individual-
monarchy of room, called the Protectorate, and a further footstep was taken
when in 1657 her "other" House was assistant;  Cromwell was inside an ace of
manufacturing himself/herself/itself a king and his/her dynasty hereditary. Only his/her personnel
genius, the strength of his/her army and the success of his/her foreign policy
trains him so to restore the forms of the old constitution without
the support of the social strengths on which had been based. His/her death
in 1658 you/he/she was necessarily followed by anarchy and the anarchy by the call
of Charles II.

The Restoration was not so a lot of a restoration of monarchy that had
is really realized in 1653 as a restoration of the church of
parliament, and of the land smaller nobility;  and each taken his/her toll of profit
from the situation. The church assured the more sectarian of his
various setups, and the narrowness of its reestablishment held
almost half the nation out of his pale. Land smaller nobility got the
predominant voice in parliament for one century and three-quarters, and,
as a consequence, the abolition of his/her feudal services to the crown,
