Capitolo 17

And then she would die. . . But that was hard on Paul. . .
Paul would never forgive her/it--he would never forgive her/it!
Sometimes she almost thought that Paul really loved him. . .
You saw him/it look in tone of reproach at his/her coffin.

And then her been closed the eyes and it walked again
Those road of nightmare that her so often you/he/she had walked:
Under an arc-lamp that swings in the wind
You were standing, and it fixed in through a window of medicine-shop,
Looking at an employee wind a small pill-box.
But it was late. Any clients were there,--
Merciless eyes would freeze her/it secret in her!
And then--that poison would dare to ask?
And if theirs asked to her because, what would say?

VII. TWO PERSONS IN LOVE: SUPERIOR HARMONICA

Two persons in love, here to the angle, from the bell tower,
Two persons in love blow together as music blowing:
And crowd dissolves around them likes a sea.
Whence that vaguely go again of interruption of sound around them,
They goes adrift from wall to wall, from tree to tree.
'Am I late well?' Directed upward them they look and they laugh,
They looks at the gilded hands of the great clock,
They laughs and they speaks, what they says:
Only, their words as music seem to play;
And seeming to walk, they treads strange sarabands.

'I brought him this. . . ' the soft craft of words as stars
Down the smooth sky of his/her memory.
You are near again to a wall garden,
The tree of fishing is fallen of flowers in flower, pink color,
Water sings from an open faucet the bees,
Tipsy and you murmur among the trees.
Someone calls from the house. You don't respond.
Turns back her the head he tilts,
And dreamily it smiles at the leaves of fishing-tree wherethrough,
You see an endless expansion of sky of May
Once deeply the blue one.
The voice from the house is grown weak far,
The leaves that shine more vaguely ripple and the hesitation. .
The faucet is closed, water stops hissing. . .
Silence. . . blue sky. . . and then, 'I brought him this. . . '
You turn again, and smiles. . . He doesn't know
You smile a long time ago from. . .
