THE PAYMENT
"While you slept me I built the castle", said Fafner. "Now I am ready for
the payment."
"What payment does he/she want?" Asked Wotan.
"What payment do I want?" Shouted Fafner. "You have not certainly forgotten
Your promise? The price was Freya, and I will take its house with me."
"Oh, that was only in joke", said Wotan. "I could not think to lease
Freya goes. But I will pay well her for the castle. I will give her
anything other that will be in the moment in which good for You."
Fafner grew very angry and shouted:--
"You stop Your foolish discourse. I built Your beautiful building of stone. Me the drudged
and he tired and it piled up the massive stones. Every stone lies firm and solid
in his/her place, and I will have mine pay!"
"But, certainly", did it say Wotan, "you didn't think that I meant Freya to give him?
'T is her who feeds us gilded apples. Anybody but Freya he/she knows how to
does what they grows. If it were for his/her fresh fruits my family it would grow
old. They would wither as the flowers in autumn."
"Yes", Fafner gotten mad; "I know that it is the gilded apples of equitable Freya that hold
You young. But Freya now belongs to me. Nothing other wish that I have."
Only Wotan saw then his/her brother, Loki, coming on the mountain.
"Aspects, Fafner! Aspects until me can talk to my brother of this!"
LOKI
"Loki, because it is so late?" Wotan complained him, when Loki came.
A lot of Loki was excited.
"His/her Rhine-daughters are in the great trouble, Wotan. As I was coming from the
river I felt them crying and groaning. Black Alberich has stolen them
gold, and I promised that I would have told him around him. Perhaps You
you/he/she could help them."
"Me now" I have not lasted for his/her/their Rhine-daughters said Wotan. "I have
trouble of mine really. Tells me how I can save poor Freya!"
From the many years Fafner felt of this gold clot. Then he listened
that whole Loki said. Then he asked: "Because Alberich wants the gold?"
"Because", answered Loki, "the gold can be made in a magic ring; if the
one whom the ring would do will abdicate to every love, the magic forever
