To these words the mighty Wotan grew angry and weeping:--

"How do you challenge you it disobeys me child? Go, I say me! Gives the victory to Hunding,
and so it carries out to my promise."

Sadly Brunhilde took on his/her lance and fencing and rode away to the
battleground.


THE FLIGHT

From near Brunhilde looked at the struggle.

When she saw how fairly and valiantly the noble Siegmund fought, and as
unfair and cowardly it was the bad Hunding, she thought:--

"I will respect the wishes of my king not the his/her words. He loves Siegmund."

You hovered him more neighbor as the battle grew more terrible.

Suddenly she threw to the side of Siegmund and he/she cried:--

"Kill him, Siegmund, with Your inimitable sword!"

Siegmund raised his/her sword to give the deadly hit, when here! Wotan threw
through a crack in the clouds and it struck the sword of Siegmund with his
mighty lance.

The sword fell in pieces to the feet of Brunhilde. Victory belonged
to Hunding.

Brunhilde, terrorized by the angered Wotan, grabbed on the broken pieces
of the sword, and, jumping to his/her saddle, it threw away.

Faster and faster she ran away to the forest, while bearing the broken blade to
The wife of Siegmund.

"Siegmund is killed!" she cried. "These are pieces of his mighty
sword. Hold them for Your child, Siegfried. He will be brave likes
his/her father.

"Yes, Siegfried will be the bravest hero that the world has ever known."

Then, jumping again to his/her saddle, she ran away toward the mountains.

"On! on! my ardent steed!" she exhorted.

Any battle-young girl ever rode so fast.

If she was able but it reaches the other battle-young girl in front of the angry one
Wotan reached her/it, they would certainly protect her/it to them from his/her anger.


THE PUNISHMENT

It was the custom for the battle-young girl to meet to Rock of Walkuere each
evening to sunset. This was the tallest peak of the mountains. From
here they would ride in Valhalla, each that brings the hero that she had
grabbed by the battleground.

"Heiho! hoyotoho! heiho!" he/she called each as her it drew near to the peak, and
