the attraction capillary cause the water to rise above on the rule
the actual surface, and so to still show a the greatest depth.
When using a hook-indicator of level the top of the dam as the
notches, should be far sheltered level and a peg or pole mended as
back as possible on the countercurrent side of the dam, so that the
top of the peg is level with the top of the dam, instead of
with the incision, as it is the case when a rule or indicative of level-blackboard is
used. The hook-indicator of level consists of a square rod of, says, lin
you side, with a hook of metal to the fund, as shown in Fig tree. 15, and
it is proportionate so that the distance from the top of the hook
to the top of the rod it is equal to the difference in level of
the top of the dam and the windowsill of the incision. In to use him/it the
rod of the hook-indicator of level is contained against the side of the indicator of level-peg
and lowered in the water up to that the point of the hook is
submerged. The indicator of level is softly elevated then up to that the point of
the hook breaks the surface of the water, when the distance
from the top of the indicator of level-peg to the top of the rod of the
hook-indicative of level will correspond with the depth of the water to flow
on the dam.
I CAPITULATE VII.
RAIN.
The next consideration is the amount of rain-water for that
provision should be done. This depends on two factors: before,
the pluvius amount that he can be waited for falling; and,
in according to place, the proportion of this rain that will arrive the
sewers. The percentage of maximum to which the rain-water the will arrive
outfalls provide of sewers it will determine the ransom of the sewer and ability
of the plant that pumps, if some, while if sewage has to be
stored during the certain periods of the tide the ability of the
reservoir will depend on the total quantity of rain-water
digitandolo during such periods, disrespectful of the percentage of
flow.
