In to calculate the I unload of dams it is a lot of formula
to choose from everybody of what it will give different results,
although comparative accuracy has been asked for each. Taking
before an only rectangular incision and reducing the formulae to
the common form:

In the table preceding Francis' short formula is used, what
doesn't consider the contractions of end and therefore
it slightly gives a result taller than it would be otherwise the
case, and in the formula of Cotterill the incision is taken as being
half the ampleness of the dam, or of the brook above of the dam. If
a cubic foot is taken as being equal instead to 6-1/4 braids
