Capitolo 36
"Yes--the Fillmore. We will take adjacent rooms if you say this way."
"Very well."
"And in the morning You it will pay the account?"
"Certainly."
The two travellers had a good supper, and it retired soon, both the being
fatigued with the trip. It was not thin to eight the next one
morning that Carl has opened the eyes. He dressed with hurry, and it went down to
breakfast. He was amazed rather not to see his/her companion of the day
before.
"The Mr. Has Hubbard still come down?" he asked to the desk.
"Yes; him taken a first breakfast, and it went away by the first train."
"That is strange. I was to pay his/her account."
"He paid him/it him."
Carl didn't know whether to do of this. If Hubbard had forgotten that
did it have five dollars that belong to him? Fortunately, Carl had his/her city
addresses, and you/he/she could refund the money to New York.
"Very well! I will pay mine really account. How much is it?"
"A dollar and a quarter."
Took Carl the ticket from ten dollars from his/her portfolio and he/she offered him in payment of a debt to the
employee.
Instead of immediately to change him/it, the employee held above it to the light and
examines him critically.
"I cannot take that account", he said, suddenly.
"Because not?"
"Because it is counterfeit."
Carl became pale, and the room seemed to turn round. It was all the
money that he had.
I CAPITULATE X.
THE COUNTERFEIT ACCOUNT.
"Is it sure it is counterfeit?" Asked Carl, a lot of it disturbed.
"I am sure of it. I don't deal me with bank bills from ten years
without being able to say the good money from bad. I will shake Him for
another account."
"That is all the money that I have", faltered Carl.
"You look here, young" says the employee, austerely "you are trying a bold
gamblings, but he/she won't succeed."
"I am trying anybody ready to all", said Carl, tearing on spirit. "I thought
the account was good."
"Where did it find him/it?"
"From the man that it came with me last evening--Mr. Hubbard."
"The money that he has given me it was good."
"What did it give her?"
"A five-dollar account."
