Aesop

ancient authors, from a French M. Claude Gaspard Bachet the de Mezeriac,
who declined the honor to be guardian to Luigi XIII. of France, from his
desires to exclusively devote himself/herself/themselves to the literature. He published his
the life of AEsop, Year Dominates 1632. The later investigations of an innkeeper of
English and German researchers have added very small to the facts given from
M. Mezeriac. The substantial truth of its affirmations has been confirmed
from later the criticism and investigation.

He/she remains to affirm, that before this publication of M. Mezeriac, the
the life of AEsop was from the pen of Maximus Planudes, a monk of
Constantinople that was expeditious on an embassy to Venice from the Byzantine
Emperor Andronicus the elder, and of what he/she wrote in the first part the
fourteenth century. Its life was premised to all the first editions of
these fables, and you/he/she was republished as late as 1727 from Archdeacon Croxall
as the introduction to his/her edition of AEsop. This life of Planudes
however it contains so small, an amount of the truth, and it is so full of absurdity
portraits of the grotesque deformity of AEsop, of marvelous apocryphal
histories, of false legends and gross anachronisms what time it is
universally it condemned as I distort, childish, and unauthentic. It is abandoned
a today's day day, from general approval as unworthy of the slightest
credit.
