The armies entered the neighborhood of each other toward the closing of
the day. They was both anxious for the dispute, or, at least, them
false to be so, but they waited up to the morning. Danish
divided their strengths in two bodies. Two kings commanded one
division and the certain head of a tribe, called _earls_s directed the
other. King undertook Ethelred to satisfy this order of battle from
a distribution corresponding of his own troops, and he gave,
accordingly, to Alfred the command of a division, while him him
it was to conduct the other. All the things that are systematized so, the muttering and
confusion of the two great camps finally lowered, to a late time,
as the men looked for rest under their ill-mannered curtains, in preparation for
the works and exposures of next day. Some slept; others
looked uneasily, and he/she spoke together, sleepless under the influence
of that strange excitement, the half hilarity and half fear that
it prevails in a field in the eve of a battle. The fires of field burned
brightly the whole night, and the sentinels observed vigilant,
every moment of the sudden alarm waiting himself/herself/itself.
The night quietly passed street. Ethelred and Alfred that both they are derived soon.
Alfred went out to wake up and to call to picked up the men in his/her division of the
camp, and to prepare for battle. Ethelred, on the other hand,
expeditious for his/her priest, and, assembling the officers in immediate
presence on him, divine service and started in his/her curtain--the service

Ethelred seems from his/her behavior on this occasion to have inherited from
his/her father, also more than Alfred the spirit of the religious devotion to
