civilizations originated and they fully developed in the other. For
three thousand years the Caucasian run has continued, under everybody
circumstances, and in every variety show of situation, to exhibit the
same lines of the face and the same untamable bravery. Any calamity, however
great--any wars that devastate, any destructive pestilence, nothing waste
famine, none evening of the obscurity, however universal and dark--it ever has
is able to hold them long in the degradation or the barbarism. There is not
now a Barbaric people to be found in the whole run, and there it has
not state one for thousand years.
Almost all the great enterprises and attainments also, what they have
