establish him/it on a "protectorate" of ours really. Us, on the contrary one,
he/she insisted that it had to be standing on his own legs; and, doing so, you learn
to be standing firmly on them, in the moment in which a child learns to walk being,
forced to try to walk, eternally not being kept in the "to conduct
sequences." This was the American as contradistinguished from the
European policy; and to-day of Mexico firmly walks.
Finally takes the case of Venezuela in 1895. I believe that I am not wrong me
when I say me that, during the twenty-five preceding years, Venezuela had,
almost immediately as a lot of revolutions. You/he/she had not certainly enjoyed a
stable government. Through disputes on questions of border, Gran
Britain proposed to confer that indisputable benediction on a
considerable region. We interfered under a more debatable delay
of the Doctrine of Monroe, and it affirmed the principle of "Hand-street."
Having done this,--having till now in it perpetuated what we now call the
scandal of anarchy,--us didn't establish "guardianship", or a protectorate,
us. We left wisely Venezuela to work out his/her destiny in his really
way, and in the fullness of time. That policy was far-seeing,
beneficent, and severely American in 1895. Because, then, almost face
the indecent alacrity to abandon him/it in 1898?
Instead, therefore, of discovered our precedents in the experience of
England, or that of some other European power, I would suggest, that the
true course for this country now to pursue is precisely the course that we have
till now undertaken the similar conditions under. I/you/he/she allow us to be true to ours really
traditions, and it follows ours own precedents. Having assuaged the Spaniard
islands from the dominion of Spain, we should declare respect to them a
policy of "Hand-street", both on ours own part and from other
powers. We should say that the independence of those islands is morally
guaranteed by us as a consequence of the essay in Paris, and then the permission
them in the moment in which we have left Hayti, and in the moment in which us Mexico went away and
