TO THE READER
John Enrico Smith has required me to revise and to compile his/her notebook, and, to
I use his/her his/her own expression, "he/she Sees if I can make some kind of a book from him."
It was his/her idea that I should eliminate the certain marked passages, and
disguises others, as to conceal the identity of the originals. Since then
The Mr. Smith is to the foreign countries I can do as I arrange. Apart to change the name his
characters, I have precisely left them as him you/he/she has drawn them. This can conduct
him to do his really compiling in the future.
I have also taken the liberty to reproduce some of the squirts done
of the Mr. Smith. Besides literary, artistic, and sporting gifts Mr.
Smith has had the rare good luck to--but I don't have to anticipate his
history.
