To me indeed this consideration increases the interest and the beauty of the
_Oresteia_, because it increases his/her greatness. The stately art, the
creative genius, the instinctive eloquence of these plays--that eloquence
what the mere desperation of a translator is--it is all devoted to the
expression of anything that Aeschylus felt to be of awful importation.
It was not his/her discovery; but it was a truth of which he had an intense
realization. Anything that he owes with all of his/her strength was become
harbors to expression before he died, not in a spirit of self-affirmation or
of matter as a discoverer but as one devoted to anything taller and
greater than him, in the spirit of an interpreter or prophet.
