Capitolo 56
It is connected with the Greek conception and common of the _Tritos Soter_--
the third Savior. Before, he who the sins; following, he who avenge; third, he who
rescues. In adoration of vegetation it is the Old year that has committed Hubris,
the sin of the pride, in the summer; the winter that kills him; the New year that
it will save. In mythology the three following Rules of Sky are given
from Hesiod as Ouranos, Kronos, Zeus (the cf. _Prometheus_, 965 ff.), but us
don't say if Aeschylus accepted the history of Hesiodic. Cf. known on l. 246,
and the swearword of Clytemnestra to l. 1387, p. 63.
P. 9, l. 192, winds from Strymon.]--From the great throat of river of
Thrace, NNE; cf. under, l. 1418.
P. 9, l. 201, Artemis.]--Your name was terrible because of his,
suggestion. You demanded the sacrifice of the daughter of Agamemnon Iphigenia.
(Sees the two plays of Euripides, _Iphigenia in Tauris_ and _Iphigenia in
Aulis_.) In the other poets Agamemnon you/he/she has generally committed some defined
you sin against Artemis, but in Aeschylus the death of Iphigenia seems to be
only one of the results of his/her acceptance of the Signal.
P. 10, l. 215, 'Tis a Rite of old man.]--Literally "it is Themis." Human
sacrifice had had a place in the primitive religion of Greece; from now
Agamemnon could not refuse the application of the soldiers as an obvious crime.
Sees _Rise of Greek Epic_ pp. 150-157.
P. 11, l. 246, the third Cup.]--Regularly it poured to Zeus Soter the,
Savior, and it accompanied from a paean or to whine some joy.
P. 11, l. 256, this Heart of Argos this fragile Tower:]--i.e. them.
P. 11, l. 264, happy-that it has voice.]--Clytemnestra is in extreme anxiety, as
the return of Agamemnon will intend them or its destruction or,
liberation. To such moment it doesn't have to be ill-omened word, so her
challenges destine.
P. 12, l. 276, a word inside that hovereths without wings.]--i.e. a
presentiment. "Winged words" they are spoken words, what fly from orator to
hearer. A 'not winged' word is said not. The sentence happens in Homer.
