After some months had passed, opportunity gave them an opportunity from

course of my reading, I came on a certain passage of Bede in his,
commentary on the Actions of the Apostles, where he affirms that
Dionysius the Areopagite was the bishop, not in Athens but of
Corinth. This was now directly, contrary to the monks' belief,
who was accustomed to the boasting that their Dionysius or Denis, were not only
the Areopagite but it was it likewise tried from his/her actions to have been the
Episcopalian of Athens. Having found so this testimony of Bede is in
contradiction of ours own tradition, I showed rather facetiously it
to different of the monks that happened to be nearby. Angrily them
declared that Bedes it was none better of a liar, and that they had a
far more trusted authority in the person of Hilduin, a first
abbot of theirs in everything that had for a lot of time travelled
Greece for the purpose to investigate this a lot of question. Him,
they insisted, it had from his/her writings removed every possible doubt on
the subject, and you/he/she had surely established the truth of the
traditional belief.

One of the monks went as to impudently ask to me till now which of the
two, Bede or Hilduin I considered the best authority on this
point. I responded that the authority of Bede whose writings are
held in tall respect from the Latin and whole Church, it appeared to me the
better. Then in a great their anger they started to shout that to
hard I had it openly tried the hate I had felt forever our
convent, and that I was looking for to the dishonor it in the eyes of the
whole kingdom, stealing him/it of the honour in which it had
