Artillery Department for the delivery, to Strong Leavenworth, of the
arm applications. The messenger was Judge James Steele that, on

Commanding the Department of Mississippi:
General: It is the desire of the President on the question of the,
Secretary of the inside and the Commissioner of Indian Business that
You should detail two regiments to act in the Indian country, with a

Kansas Meridionale to return to their houses and to protect there them.
Five thousand friendly Indians will be also armed to help in them
own protection and You please it will furnish them with necessary
existence.
