I have dwelt the longest on this point because it is fundamental until
a mother imagines, as so a lot of mothers to do seems, that obedience on the
part of his/her/their child is, or you/he/she should be, a matter she doesn't clearly want never,
properly undertakes the job to train him/it. But when her completely
it understands and touches that his/her children won't be waited for to submit
their wish to his, _except till now as her form in them the habit to do
this from special training_, the battle is defeated half.
Instincts of _Actual of Children_.
The natural instinct that impels his/her children for immediately to come to her for
shelter and protection in all of their troubles and fears, are a great source of
the happiness to every mother. This instinct appears in thousand ways.
"A mother, a morning"--self I quote the anecdote from a newspaper[B] what
it came to give while I was writing this chapter--the "it gave two small
books and toys to amuse them, while she went to watch out to of the job in a
superior room. Half that a hour has quietly passed, and then a timid voice to the foot
of the steps called out:
"'Is mother, there?'
"'Yes, dear.'
"'Every right, then!' and his/her child went up again to his/her play.
"Among brief the small voice was heard again, while repeating,
"'Is mother, there?'
"'Yes.'
"'Every right, then; and the small one returned again, it satisfied and
reassured, to their toys."
The sense of the presence of their mother, or at least her certainty
being nearby to course of hand, it was necessary to their safety and the appeasement in
their plays. But this feeling was not the result of some teachings that them
you/he/she had received from them mother, or on her having inculcated on them
you always lie in some way the necessity of their custody inside course of
maternal protection; neither you/he/she had been acquired from their his/her own observation or
experiments of dangers or the difficulties that their had happened when too far
