_An Objection_.
"I wish to be governed by reason and reflection" my child, one says. "ME
the wishes to see the _necessity_ and _propriety_ of that that I ask for him,
this way that he can make a ready acquiescence and prepared with my wishes,
instead of being blindly forced to submit to arbitrary and despotic
power."
You forgetful that the faculties of reason and reflection and the power
to appreciate "the necessity and convenience of things", and to bring
the considerations of future, remote and perhaps possible good person and I win to
contains him and you subjugate the impetuousness of appetites and passions anxious for
present pleasure, is quality that appears late, and it is very slowly
developed, in the childish mind; what an any true trust that anything can be
put on them of first years of the life; and what, besides, one of the
head and agreements expressly objects of the establishment of the parental one
relationship is to provide in the mature reason and reflection of his/her/their father,
and mother, the means of guide that the reason for embryo and reflection of
his/her child could not afford during the period of his/her immaturity.
_The two great Elements of Obligation_ Parentale.
Indeed, the principal end and purpose of the parental relationship, as drawn by the
Author of nature, as comprised can be considered, it would seem, in these
two objects, or rather: before, the _support_ of the child of the _strength_
of his/her parents during the necessary period for the development of _his_
strength, and, in according to place, his/her guide and direction of their _reason_
during the development of his/her reason. The second of these obligations is anybody
less imperious than the first one. To wait him that him to offer him the means of his
support from the resources of his own strength of embryo, would implicate anybody
greater misunderstanding from his/her father and mother that to look
for the exercise of some controlling they influence on really his/her behavior from
his/her reason for embryo. The anticipation in the two cases would be equally vain.
