to reconcile the poetic taste of the day was never to an end for. But his
the affection for Crabbe never lowered. In his more first novels it was anybody
contemporary poet him quoted more often as headings for his/her chapters--and
it was the _Borough_ of Crabbe that he listened with infallible delight
twenty years later, in the last sad hours of his/her decadence.

_THE BOROUGH_

(1809-1812)

The immediate success of Parish of _The Register_ in 1807 encouraged Crabbes
immediately to proceed far with a longer poem in which you/he/she had been of the years
hand. _The Borough_ starts to Rendham in Suffolk in 1801, it continued
to Muston after the return there in 1805, and it finally completed during
a long visit to Aldeburgh in the autumn of 1809. What the Poem owes
you/he/she has been "in the creation" during at least eight years it is completely that that
you/he/she would be inflicted by the ended job. It tried, on aspect, to
both of deadly length--at least ten thousand lines. His/her versification
included every degree of end of which Crabbe was able from his,
very better to his very worse. Parts of him were evidently written when the
theme mixed and transported the writer:  others, again when he was only
him devoted to reproduce scenes in which you/they have singly lived his that it holds back
memory, with superfluous minuteness of detail and in some kind of couplet
it is probable that that footsteps gathering in respect of scansion and rhyme. In the preface
to the poem, on his/her aspect in the 1810 Crabbe it exposes an uncomfortable
conscience that its poem was open to objection in this respect. In
his/her preceding hazards he had had Edmund Burke, Johnson and Fox,
besides his/her friend Turner to Yarmouth, to restrain himself/herself/themselves or to revise. On the
present occasion, the three first-called friends had passed away, and
Crabbe took his Mrs. with him to Yarmouth, on the occasion of his/her visit
