"On my return in Cambridge immediately I was absorbed in the job of
the observatory. The only tool climbed on then to the observatory
it was the Transit. I didn't have Assistant anything.--A Mr Galbraith of
Edinburgh had doubted anything in one of my Papers around the
Figure of the Earth. Me stretched a rather answered formal to him: Whewell
it my bill and spread out a very pithier, what I adopted and
sent to the Philosophical Periodical.--To compare our clocks to the
superior and lower stations of Dolcoath that we had taken in loan from the Royal
Observatory, Greenwich, is good pocket chronometers: them anchor they were

sent by all the sides some times to determine the longitude
of Observatory in Cambridge. This was done on Oct. 21, 22, 23: the
result was 23 deg.54s, and this is used to the present time
(1853). It showed an error in the Trigonometric examination, the origin
of what you/he/she was found, I think, later (the Dr Pearson in a letter of
Dec. 17 ray of the error of a power-pole for a signal-one man show). ME
stretched a Paper on this, and it gave him/it to the Cambridge Philosophical
Society on Nov. 24. (My only academic Paper this year.)--I had
a lot of letters from the Dr Young, providing me partly with calculations
what I wanted, partly on reform or delay of the Nautical almanac
(what Dr Young withstood so much how much possible). He considered a lot me
