Capitolo 50
Examination was conducted through five days (Monday to Friday) without
interruption except the afternoon of Friday. It was mainly, perhaps
entirely, bookwork.
But on two _evenings_s there it was printed papers of problems: and the
examination in these was conducted in the moment in which in the printed papers of
the present day: but in the Rooms of private University of the
Moderators. And there, wine and the other refreshments were offered the
Examinees. As this unusual custom started, I don't know.
The order of worth was repaired in afternoon of Friday and evening, and
it was in some known measure delays through the university in the
evening. I remember Peacock of Mr that comes to a party of Examinees and
information that it gives on many places. I don't remember his to mention
mine (although undoubtedly he did) but I separately remember his to give
the wood Spoon. In Saturday morning at 8 o'clock the manuscript
list was nailed to the door of the Senate-house. The form of subsequently
procedures in the presentation for degree (respondendum of the announcement
quaestioni) I imagine you/he/she has not been altered a lot. Kneels him before
the Vice-chancellor and putting hands in the hands of the Vice-chancellor
it was those of the old form to make homage.
The form of examination that I have described was complicated and
perhaps annoying, but I believe that it was very efficient,
possibly this way of the modern form (established I suppose to the
same time as the abolition of the Actions). The proportion of questions
he/she now answered to the set of integer it is ridiculously small, and no
the accurate idea of relative worth can be formed from them.
THE ROOM OF UNIVERSITY.
When I climbed in 1819, and for many years later, the supper was to
1/4 past 3. There was no additional supper for special
applications. Boat-batons that I think were not invented, also in a social plan
way, approximately cultivates 1824 or 1825; and not in the connection with the university
thin to some years later. Some of the friends senior ray of the time
