time, 1/2 past 5, and approximately returning 6 I had then tea. Then I read
a classical subject, quietly, cultivates usually 11; and me never, also in
the times when it is probable that I seem pressed more severely, he/she sat later on.

"From this time to the closing of the annual examination (starting of
June) I remained in Cambridge, while stopping there through the Easter
Vacation. The subjects of the mathematical lectures were to the agenda
algebra and the trigonometry: but Peacock of Mr always had some privacy
problems of a taller class for me, and he/she saw me I believe every day. The
subjects of the Classical lectures were, the termination of
Hippolytus, the book of Thucydides and the prayer of Cicero. In
mathematics I read the Mechanics of Whewell, then as soon as you/he/she has published (the first one
the innovation did in the system in Cambridge of Physical Sciences for many
years): and I find in my known scribble-paper, integrals, central
strengths, the Limited Differences, constructions of vaporize-motor and the powers,
plain of bridges, spherical trigonometry, optic calculations
related to the achromatism of eye-pieces and achromatic
object-glasses with slow separate, mechanical problems, Transit of
Venus, the various problems in geometric astronomy (I think that it was to
this duration that Peacock of Mr had given me a copy of the astronomy of Woodhouse
1 edition), the rainbow, plain for anemometer and for a to wind-pump
car, clarifying lunars & the c., with a great number of geometric
problems. I comment that my ideas on the Differential Calculation didn't have

acquired in some months. In Classics I read the Persae of Aeschylus,
Greek history and Roman a lot of (Mitford, Hooke Ferguson) and the
books of introductory Thucydides to that of the subject of lecture (the
